Surprise! Neither garden nor Sanneh Kunda today. I was feeling unmotivated this morning and seriously thinking about skipping out, and then Anita was really sick and I thought I should take care of her. I spent the bulk of the day with her, including accompanying her on her trip to the clinic. We’re still not entirely sure what’s wrong. The doctor seemed to think it was something she ate, but she can’t think of anything she had that none of the other St Mary’s students did. She’s the only one who is sick. The clinic has a sample from her that they’re going to analyze, so perhaps that will provide us with an answer. They’re pretty sure it’s bacterial, whatever it is, so they decided to give her an intramuscular antibiotic. An oral antibiotic would just go straight through her. Poor Anita. She felt gross yesterday, didn’t really sleep last night, and has felt even worse today. And then she got a needle in her butt.
She’ll be starting on oral antibiotics tonight, and we already have her on oral rehydration solution. I won’t repeat what she said that tastes like.
When I wasn’t with Anita, I was working on my final paper. I have a rough draft due when we leave here on the 10th, and I hadn’t started it before today. All I have so far is part of an outline, but that’s better than nothing. I didn’t spend much time with it today. It’s actually tying into my SMP fairly well, which is pretty exciting.
Oh. I’m still working my way through The Culture of Make Believe, and it’s pretty intense. I’m on the part where he’s talking about the (inevitable) end of civilization.
