Camp Cooper is a beautiful Boyscout camp near Wilamina, OR. It's up on a mountain with gorgeous trees and a waterfall. Nice place. No internet connection or cell phone reception. Pleasant weather.

Camp Cooper was the site of the Oregon Sprog, one of several week-long trainings across the nation put on the Sierra Student Coalition. Whoa Nelly. What an amazing week. There were so many awesome people. I am very glad to have met all of them, but I almost regret going to the OR Sprog rather than one closer to home. I feel like it would've been great to meet people I could work with closely in the future, and it's hard to work closely with someone who lives on the other side of the country. Whatever. Now I have lots of friends over on the west coast, reason to come back, and couches that I can sleep on. Life is good.

I am very glad that I knew what I was getting into when I signed up for Sprog. It was a pretty intense week, with hours and hours of trainings led by very passionate people. The trainings varied in quality, but were generally top notch. The trainers were all great. Seriously. Amazing people. I think that's one of the biggest things I got from Sprog-- there are so many amazing people in this movement, we have so much energy and potential, and we are all working to do great things. Obviously, we have no choice but to change the world. No choice whatsoever.

I didn't learn all that much in the way of new things; I had at least touched base with all or most of the skills already. However, I definitely gained a whole lot of confidence, and that's just as important. What good is a skill if you are too nervous to employ it? I feel all empowered and inspired and all that jazz, and I'm excited to get back to St Mary's to talk with the SEAC folks about all the awesome things we can do this year/semester. Hoo boy. Power Vote, getting Maggie to stick to the PCC, getting us to fit into larger networks so we can make bigger changes, avoiding burnout like the plague, etc.

I'm not allowed to lose touch with the people I met last week. I absolutely forbid it.
