Elizabeth and Rachel arrived from Portland just in time for us to head down to Twin Oaks and Acorn for New Years. The party itself was decent. I would classify it as a good TO party, but not as New Years. Granted, my expectations for a New Years party were quite high. I still enjoyed myself, and I guess that's what counts. I was briefly depressed at midnight. I didn't have anyone I wanted to kiss, the music was kind of blah, and I was dwelling on some of the low points of 2008. But then I danced with a cute photographer, and that made the evening much more enjoyable.
We hung out at Acorn for several days. I like spending time there. We eventually left due to feeling guilty about not working on other things, like applications and resumes. I would like to go back for an internship this summer, I think. I like the people. I like the place. I found out that I like shipping orders, which is pretty neat. (If you ordered something from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and someone named Joanna signed your receipt, your order was lovingly shipped by yours truly!) I don't particularly like sleeping in the barn in the winter, but that's avoidable. Especially if I intern in the summer.
Back in the DC area, I've mostly hung out with Elizabeth, Rachel, and Matt. Matt's been having car trouble and needed to be in Fairfax to be close to the Saturn dealership, so we've been in each other's company quite a bit lately. He keeps cooking me delicious things, so I guess I'm alright with it. I did go museum-hopping with Elizabeth, Rachel, and Flynn yesterday, which was fun. We visited Tina at work and she and I talked about edible weeds. Today, I'm back in Fairfax working on my resume, cover letter(s), etc. Real life, here I come, I guess.
