Flash bulletin: my SMP is due one week from yesterday. AHHHH!
But it's okay. Everything is going to be alright. I ran the stats I needed to run yesterday, so all that I have left to do is re-write my results section a bit and then do the discussion. These are fairly simple tasks. I have six days. I'll be fine.
I met with my adviser last Tuesday to talk about my SMP. Previously, she had me very worried about her general disapproval. But lo and behold, when push came to shove she only had concerns about my stats. Well, sheesh. A little quality time with SPSS is all it takes to straighten that out. No need to freak me out, Ms. O'Donnell.
In other news, I went into DC this weekend. Friday night, I saw a show that some of my friends played. Check them out. They're good. Also, I think I found my new band-crush. Slingshot Dakota. My hands were feeling bored and I wanted to massage someone, and the first person who said "YEAH! I'll totally take a massage!" was the keyboardist/vocalist. She was super sweet, and she gave me some free merch in thanks for the massage. Awesome!
Saturday was full of Visions in Feminism, a conference at American University. I had a good time. I got interviewed about it by someone writing for The Nation, so watch out! I might be famous. I was in the same room as Annie Sprinkle for a whole hour and a half! Amazing. (You can find her at AnnieSprinkle.org -- "org for orgasm!") I got her autograph. I felt like such a fangirl-- I couldn't even really talk because I was feeling so starstruck. How silly. She is, after all, just a person. A famous, fabulous person who has tons of amazing experiences behind her. She put a big lipsticked kiss next to her signature. I felt so blessed.
Sunday, I drove back to St Mary's in time to meet up with my parents for lunch. And then I stood for a couple hours and sang Carmina Burana. One of the other choir members passed out! How exciting.
In other news, check out these videos and this one if you want to me mildly amused/outraged. Is this guy for real? WARNING: Not work safe! He talks loudly about sexual topics.
