Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Weird holiday, isn't it? Should we be thankful and celebrating with our families, or should we be reflecting on genocide? I'm never quite sure.
Keegan and I, as you may already know, came up to the DC area for the week. We spent the past few days at my parents' house. I got a flu shot, which was actually a mist sprayed up my nose. We live in the future, folks. It gave me a headache for around 24 hours. But hey, at least it wasn't a needle. My sister and her partner, Andrew, arrived from Philly on Tuesday night. Katie and I are very different people. Being around her makes me understand myself a bit better, though; for example, being around Katie reminds me why I talk over people so much.
We left my parents' house this morning after being fed scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserves. (Delicious! Thanks, Dad.) Around noon, we arrived at Carol's house, and then we all headed to Baltimore to spend Thanksgiving dinner at David and Tara's. (David is Keegan's brother, Tara is his wife.) They have a lovely new daughter named Isabella. She's about four weeks old and completely adorable. David even made mac and cheese for Keegan and me to eat in lieu of turkey.
On Saturday or Sunday, Keegan's dad will be driving us back down to Twin Oaks. Hooray! It'll be the first time he's seen the place. I will be very happy to see it again.
In the spirit of the season, here are some things I am thankful for:
-Keegan
-My health
-My blossoming social life at Twin Oaks
-The support I have received around Unicorn School
-Wanting for nothing, or at least very little
-Wood stoves
-Living in a beautiful place
-Bumping dance music
-Having the ability and resources to inform myself about just about anything
-Life in general
