I went to Twin Oaks this past weekend. It was an intense experience. Emotionally, it left me a bit raw, but I think I will recover quickly enough. Time and space are the magical ingredients for emotional healing; 2-3 hours away is lots of space, so I'm hoping I won't need too much time.

On the upside, this visit did provide me with an opportunity to reflect on what I've done since I left. All in all, I think I'm doing pretty well. Just to make sure I keep doing awesome-ly, I decided to set myself some goals.

1. Running
-Sign up for a half marathon in April. I'm looking at these three (number 1, number 2, number 3). I'm leaning toward #2, even though it's kind of far away. I mean, what's not to love about "a winding route ... that winds through the Great Dismal Swamp Wildlife Refuge, a 112,000-acre park ... that's home to more than 200 species of birds and waterfowl, as well as deer, red and grey foxes, and the occasional black bear."
-Sign up for a 5k before April. Done! I signed up for So Others Might Eat Trot for Hunger 5k. SOME is a rad organization in the DC area. You can toss some money at them through supporting me here. I'll be running my first ever race on Thanksgiving morning. I don't expect to win or anything, but still. It's kind of a milestone, right?
-Start running in the mornings Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It's getting too dark too early for me to run after work, so I guess I'll just have to be one of those crazy people who wakes up early to run.
-Go on at least one long run every weekend.

2. Other fitness
-Stick with You Are Your Own Gym. Push myself.
-On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, do yoga. (Those are the days when I won't be running in the mornings.)

3. Guitar
-Play for at least 20 minutes three times per week
-Start working through Modern Method for Guitar. (Or, if I don't like it, find a comparable book that works better for me.)

4. Personal enrichment
-Start reading books regularly again
-Downtime? Consider drawing and/or painting. Get back into it.

5. Interpersonal relationships
-Keep up with correspondence. Pick one day per week for letter writing.
-Look at OkCupid again? I dunno. The steps I need to take here are less clear.

I think that looks like an impressive but manageable list. Time to get to work.

Books! Do you use GoodReads or LibraryThing? They're like Fito, but for reading. My userid is CatalogThis all over the interwebs.
