Exciting happenings:
-School's out! Last Friday (June 7) was the last day for the kids. This past week was a teacher workweek, which was full of meetings and inventories. I'll be co-teaching a week-long, plant-themed summer camp starting Monday. We've lined up two field trips and two guest speakers, so we've basically passed on the teaching to other people. Awesome.
-I've been learning a new song on guitar. It's the first one in a while. It's all finger picking and not many chords, which is a stretch for me. It's Moving Pictures, Silent Films by Great Lake Swimmers. I play it even less chord-y than they do.
-I started on an art project. It involves paper and folding and strings.
-I attended a planning meeting for a fledgling intentional community last night! How exciting. We were video conferencing, because we live in the future. It got me all excited about community and stuff. They're lovely people.
-I was supposed to take a class today at Sur la Table called Essential Knife Skills. I arrived. I stood and listened to/watched the chef for fifteen minutes, feeling increasingly less capable of standing. I sat down. I still felt dizzy. I broke out in a cold sweat. I stood up to chop a chive. I decided I shouldn't be handling knives while dizzy. I talked with the management, got a credit on my account so I could take the class later, and went home. I'm looking forward to taking it, hopefully next week.
-Dude. Dude. I'm leaving so soon on my West Coast trip! My flight is next Tuesday! I started making a packing list today, so it's officially real now.
