I am in Washington State again. I'm becoming a regular jet-setter. I'm sure I'm confusing my body horribly with the time zone changes, but, hey, I'm young, so it's allowed.
I arrived here Saturday morning bright and early, having woken up at 3:15 AM EST to get to the airport. I brought Ryan my djembe (a drum, purchased long ago in The Gambia) as my "personal item" carry-on. One of the flight attendants played it when I walked by her to my seat. She asked whether I would be giving the passengers a performance. I was too sleepy to reply with anything but a weak laugh, but I'm impressed that she was so perky at 5 AM.
Saturday was spent house-hunting. Every property presents such a different possible life. The topography, the water, the views, the existing structures-- imagining how all of these features will affect the lives of its residents is an almost dizzying experience.
Sunday was spent lazing about, which was lovely. I'm milking the last of my summer vacation for all it's worth. We even played Bananagrams in the evening. How luxurious.
And now I'm on the Olympic Peninsula, researching real estate and zoning information while Ryan hammers away at the framing of the house he's working on. Tonight, we're staying at the B&B where I worked earlier this summer. Linda, the proprietor, was evidently thrilled when Ryan made the reservation. I'm pretty thrilled about getting to eat more of her cooking.
Maybe I'll farm tomorrow, maybe I'll kick back some more. Wednesday will be for errands and lazing. Thursday and Friday will be childcare duty days, and then it's back on the plane to old Virginny.
