We went dancing last night. There were more of us this time and we went to a different club. (We had to stay away from the bouncer at Wow! who is in love with Sarah, won't leave her alone, and was wearing a "Nothing is sweeter than BROWN SUGAR" shirt last Saturday.) Oh boy. Perhaps I will simply refrain from clubbing for the rest of our time here. My peers were pretty drunk, which didn't help, and this club was just as skeezy as the last one. The club we had heard was classy was closed last night for reasons unknown. Dancing required constant repositioning to get away from guys I didn't want touching me. I was feeling harrassed on the dance floor and headed to the bar to get some water, and then I was harrassed at the bar and went back to the dance floor.

I did get some pretty great lines last night. The classier ones were along the lines of, "I love your dance. It makes me crazy!" while others were quite blunt, "Hello, hello, hello! I love your ass!"

We eventually left to hang out with some British tourists who paid way too much for their cab. 300 dalasi to get from Senegambia to Kombo beach? No, no, no. We bargained our driver down to 40. They were nice enough, but we had gotten ourselves to a low-traffic area at a very late hour. I am used to a steady stream of taxis and felt trapped without it. We did eventually leave, but we had to ask the hotel staff to call a cab for us. I knew it was going to be steep (calling a cab to the tourist area? ouch) but this was just crazy. It took a lot of haggling and a good dollop of flirtation to get the price down to 100. He and I both knew that I wasn't going to get another cab.

And then I got five hours of sleep. Awesome.
