So much coming and going.
I returned from Acorn on Friday and dropped Paul and Jessie off at the Metro. Saying goodbye to Paul was awkward, of course, because of boundaries and because of who he was going to see. More about that later, perhaps.
I've been really good about working out lately. I guess I'm sick of feeling gross and out of shape. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all found me sweaty and cardiovascularly active. Saturday evening found me hanging out with Amanda. We were thinking about going to see Mamma Mia! but decided to sit and talk instead. We talked for 6 hours or so, which is sort of shocking. We haven't really talked since winter break, though, so we had a lot to catch up on. We talked about our love lives a lot. We talked about school, grades, parties, tattoos, friends, families, and on and on. I like Amanda.
Sometime during our 6-hour marathon talk, Amanda realized that I had never seen Across the Universe. We made a date for the following day, and so I called her up on Sunday to invite her over to watch it and bake cookies with me. I flipped open Vegan with a Vengeance, hoping to find something delicious that I hadn't made before. We settled on the Big Gigantoid Crunchy Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies. Delicious, in case you were wondering. They turned out spectacularly. I am so satisfied to be reunited with an oven. Across the Universe was good. I can't believe the vocals were all recorded live. That's crazy!
After the movie ended, I dropped Amanda back off at her house and got myself on the Metro, toting a fantastic mesh shirt from The Gambia and a container full of cookies. I was on my way to Takoma Park to hang out with Flynn and Company. He loved the shirt. Everyone loved the cookies. We went to a pool where one of Flynn's friends works and had ourselves an after-hours pool party. I had forgotten how fun swimming is, but the chlorine was gross and made me miss swimming in the river. Flynn's friends are great. Hanging out with them usually makes me feel like I live on the wrong side of DC. Maybe I do. (Hey, Flynn and a couple of his friends are keeping a music blog, which I feel I should plug. I don't know if anyone who reads this would be into his kind of music, but it's worth a try. Check it out.)
I spent the night at Flynn's, which may have confused his mother. Upon arriving back at the Vienna station, I hopped on the CUE bus, widening my eyes and faking a younger voice in an attempt to ride for the high school student rate. I had forgotten that they raised the fare, and I was 25 cents short. The bus driver didn't stop me from taking my seat, so he either believed my ploy or didn't feel like arguing it. Either way, I got home.
And here I am, procrastinating with my packing. I leave tomorrow morning for Missouri.
Unrelated fact: A piece of my wisdom tooth came out a couple days ago! My bottom right tooth shattered when they took it out, and I guess a piece or two got left behind. One big piece had been working its way out for a week or two, and it finally came out. I thought that was the end of it, but there's another shard poking through now. I wonder how long this will go on.
