Last night, I was sitting in my common room, typing up emails and listening to Flynn play on my guitar.
Flynn: When you're writing songs, do you ever hit this hump where you have to convince yourself that your lyrics aren't trite and awful?
I answered with a noncommittal but comforting affirmative. Really, though, I was thinking to myself that the biggest hump I hit when writing lyrics is finding something worthwhile to sing about in the first place. And then I realized that I knew exactly what I wanted to write a song about RIGHT NOW.
As soon as Flynn was done with my guitar, I sat down with it and had some quality time. And now I have a new song, and I'm quite pleased with it.
