Happy federal holiday, dear reader.
The Gibson household celebrated Christmas this morning with an exchange of gifts. Notably, I received a Sun Jar, Salt by Mark Kurlansky, lots of socks, a Threadless shirt, some reforestation in my name, and a "Mr. Bacon vs Monsieur Tofu" action figure set. I felt a little guilty for adding so little to the pile of presents, but my family didn't seem to mind too much.
We're going to the Kennedy Center later today to see a high-class comedy: Legally Blond the Musical. While I admit that I enjoy a good chick flick as much as the next person, turning a chick flick into a high-value stage production may be pushing it. We'll see how it goes.
In other news, I was reading Manifesta earlier and came across the quote of the day:
"It is probably a fair assumption to say that 'zigazig-ha' is not Spice shorthand for 'subvert the dominant paradigm.'"
-Jennifer L. Pozner, Sojourner, 1998, about the Spice Girls' version of Girl Power
Excellent.
