Saturday, I headed to the DC area to meet up with Matt and to see a show in which both he and Flynn were playing. Well, and a bunch of other people. But I didn't know them, so they weren't as important for me to see. After the show, there was lots of hanging out. Fun. Laughter. You know the drill. It was great. I ended up sleeping in Jack's basement. I slept in his attic in the spring. I thought the switch was funny.

Sunday, Matt dropped me off at a Metro way too early for how recently I'd gone to sleep. I made my way to the house on T Street where Justine is staying. I'd promised her a haircut. This was my first time really cutting anyone's hair other than my own. I mean, I've buzzed hair and I've evened out sloppy cuts that other people have done, but I've only really styled my own before. I think it turned out really well, even though there are a few longer hairs that I missed. They're really bothering me and I want to chop them off, but Justine insists on keeping them. Something about making the haircut look more hipster. Or something. I don't know-- I just think they just look sloppy.

After the cut, Justine left to go to a Hanukkah celebration. I couldn't follow, and I was thinking about heading back to my parents'. But then Brian (another inhabitant of the house) was heading to the house he just bought and is remodeling. I asked him if he wanted any help. Best choice of the day! He was thrilled to have me and set me to work tearing plaster off the walls. Neato. I love being handy. So I tore down walls for a few hours. Just when I was thinking about leaving again, arrangements were made for a delicious dinner with friends. How could I turn that down? Brian made some sort of strawberry chorizo and it was amazing. There was hanging out, fun, and laughter Sunday night, too. It was, in fact, almost as pleasant as Saturday night.

So I slept on the couch at T Street. I woke up sometime around 10:30 because of the sun and the cats romping. Not a bad situation to wake up in, I think. No one else was up, so I read for a while. I love cozy, lazy mornings. Brian made us pancakes when he got up, and I breakfasted sometime around noon. After that, it was back to the plaster. This time, I got to tear down walls and ceilings! My arms are a bit sore today, but it was totally worth it.

After destroying things and covering myself in plaster dust, I got on the Metro during rush hour. I'm sure I looked pretty cool, sandwiched between briefcases and sprinkling plaster every time I shook my head.

My parents took me out to dinner. A restaurant near us very recently reopened after being closed for at least a year due to a fire. Unfortunately, they're still working out the kinks. Their heat was broken. Bummer. We ate wearing our coats.

We headed to the local outdoors store to look at sleeping bags and decided we were better off ordering online from REI. We could have gone out to REI to buy them in person, but... going to a major shopping center on the night of Dec 22 just didn't seem like a good idea. So. My sleeping bag, liner, and stuff sack are coming to me and should be here by Tuesday.

Today, I'm heading back to help with the house some more. It would be silly to show up earlier than 11 or so. I think I might pass the time by baking cookies.
