On Thursday, I went to see Sharon Van Etten play at the 9:30 Club. It was a great show. She had more of a band behind her for the show than she seems to on her albums, so it was livelier than I expected. Good stuff. It was the first show of their tour, and they were clearly excited about it. I love watching talented people having fun. There's just nothing like watching someone do something they love, and that they've spent countless hours honing. It made me want to work on guitar a whole lot more.
On Saturday, I went to a show at the Red Palace. There were three bands, and there were sideshow performances and zombie burlesque between the bands' sets. (So much fake blood!) It was an entertaining evening. I danced a lot. I was dressed as a deer, featuring antlers I'd made with Sculpey earlier that day, along with a skirt I made out of strips of discarded fabric. DIY costumes for the win.

When I got home from the show, my housemate's Halloween party was still going strong. I didn't get to bed until 4:00 or so.
Today, I slept in until brunch o'clock with my parents. My mom took me out to go... bra shopping! That's right, kiddos, Joanna needed new bras. As it turns out, my bra size has changed significantly thanks to my losing a bunch of weight. That would explain why things didn't seem to be fitting the same way anymore. So now I have a couple brand new bras that actually conform to my body! I'm sort of ridiculously excited about them.
Upon returning home from that thrilling outing, I turned right back around to go out for a run. What a lovely day for it! It was perhaps the last lovely day of the year, seeing as things are about to get apocalyptic and then cold. Gotta get those beautiful runs in while I still can. My legs were feeling strong; I think I'm pretty much fully transitioned to these new shoes and to using a forefoot strike. Sweet.
I'm ready to settle into a couple cozy, post-natural-disaster, electricity-free days.
