It shipped, it shipped! My GPS thing has shipped! I am so looking forward to having a little device tell me what my pace is throughout my runs. I think it'll be super motivating. I just set myself a new goal of running a less than 28 minute 5k consistently. It's probably a ways off, but I think it's realistic. I mean, if I can run a little over a mile at a 7:31 min/mi pace when I'm pushing and at a 8:16 pace when I'm taking it a bit easier, I think running 5k at a 9:00 pace is do-able.
In other news, today is Saturday. I have no plans for the weekend. Not a single one. This is the first weekend in a while that that's happened. I plan to sleep a lot and work out a fair amount. Maybe I'll work on putting together a model of a plant cell for the kiddos. I have a book on guitar that I'd like to start working through; maybe this weekend will be a good time to start. I feel like a cat in a windowsill. I plan to stretch out and bask.
On Monday and Tuesday, we're having parent-teacher conferences. I was talking with my lead teacher yesterday afternoon about my observations/general take on each of the kiddos, and I realized that I kind of know what I'm talking about. That was cool. It's been a few months, and I think I'm starting to know these people pretty well. I know what they like doing, what work they avoid, which ones will get sassy when you tell them they need to go back and fix things, etc. ("No, really, I'm not kidding. You need an apostrophe in there or else it's a different word.") I also realized that I have favorites, and that my favorites are different from my lead teacher's favorites. Thankfully, she was surprised to hear about my favorites/un-favorites, and told me that she wouldn't have guessed based on my interactions with the kids. Whew. At least I'm generally keeping my partiality to myself.
