In preparation for moving across the country, I have begun a purge of my possessions. It feels a little overwhelming, but very cleansing.

I passed off my first item last night: a steamer trunk I had painted purple and gold. It felt good.

Currently up on Craigslist:
  • My dining table and chairs, purchased with such high hopes of ever having dinner with anyone.
  • An electric blanket, originally a gift from Keegan's mom.
  • My box fan, purchased in the spring, which sat unused for the entire summer because I was on the other side of the country.
Soon to be listed:
  • My cheap-o comforter and pillowcase set that snags on everything ever.
  • Perhaps my cedar hope chest.
  • My TV, which I used only as a music player for the living room.
  • My bathroom rug.
  • Other stuff I can't think of right now.
To be listed at the last minute:
  • My reading chair.

I also went through my books and picked out a box-full of them to give away. Putting some of them in that pile was painful. I'm going to think of it as an exercise in non-attachment.

I have a lot of purging to do to fit everything into my car. Oh man.
