I arted. Mostly last night. I had to wait for several pieces to dry, so the project came to fruition this afternoon.
It's a mixed media piece: watercolor, ink, cut paper, glue. Ignore the shadow on the top right corner-- that's netting from a hair piece.
Playing with watercolor techniques is fun. This one involved a lot of water. The gray paper resembled a puddle for a while there. If I'd really planned ahead on the watercolor, maybe there would be smoke coming out of the stovepipe or a path leading to the door. Next time.
And I like cutting paper-- there is nothing drawn on the watercolor paper (sky and grass) with this piece. I only used ink because I don't have black paper. The sheep's faces and legs are colored with black pen, and each sheep is one piece of paper. The strands of the fence are from a sharpied piece of white cardstock which I then cut into long slivers and pasted on, as you see. The visual texture makes it worth it, in my opinion. The fish scale siding on the house was fun. (The secret: hole puncher punches!)
ART! Sometimes I make it.
